Economic and Market Fare:

Prince: An Update from Our CIOs: Transitioning to Stagflation

... MP3 policies were very successful, stimulating a high level of nominal demand and a rapid recovery in employment markets in response to the pandemic. But this stimulation was applied for too long, and the offsetting monetary tightening is now coming too late, resulting in what we now have, which is a monetary inflation. Given the inertia of a monetary inflation, bringing it under control to the point that inflation approaches what is now discounted in the markets (2.5%) will require an aggressive tightening of monetary policy over a sustained period, and a significant and sustained weakening of employment markets. As central banks pursue their dual mandate of maximum employment and stable prices, they will not be able to achieve both at the same time and will be forced to choose between too-low growth in order to achieve their desired inflation rate, or too-high inflation in order to achieve their desired employment conditions. In managing through this, we see them toggling back and forth in their prioritization, trying to avoid both an unacceptably deep economic contraction and an unacceptably high inflation rate, culminating in a long period of too-high inflation and too-low growth, i.e., stagflation.

Variant Perception: Bullwhip effect reversal is the major downside growth risk

The main downside risk today that the market may not fully appreciate is the reversal of the historically large post-Covid bullwhip effect, which pulled forward a lot of future demand. The bullwhip effect started with surging consumer goods demand and led to a huge restocking impulse up the supply chain. The below is an excerpt from our July 19th report.

As we highlighted in our July Macro Snapshot: “ISM new orders to inventory ratio has been collapsing, suggesting this is the beginning of the end of the bullwhip effect. The significant build-up of US retailer inventories is set to exert a strong deflationary force on the economy once the bullwhip effect reverses.”

Leading relationships for ISM manufacturing are bad and still deteriorating:

... More timely hard data confirms the industrial slowdown has started. Production at US factories declined in June for a second month owing to higher inventories and total industrial production fell for the first time this year (link).

Chemical prices have weakened significantly, signaling falling demand in the face of high prices and weakness in downstream markets. (Ethylene and propylene are key inputs for plastic and household chemical compounds). ...

Is this a return to a 70s-like fight between inflation and recession? The energy supply scarcity is likely to bring about yuge business cycle volatility in coming years until the situation is settled.

.... An Emerging Trend
Layoffs have surged considerably since April of this year. See the table below for high-profile instances of mass layoffs. ...

... but what is more important is that as the latest Apartment List data shows, the rapid pace of annual increases is now slowing rapidly, and at this pace, the CPI shelter data - which is arguably the stickiest of all and is again delayed 4 to 7 months - will peak some time in September or October.

The rapidly falling deficit does not "put the US in a strong fiscal position."

The US Treasury Department has reported that “for the first ten months of the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, the deficit was $726 billion, down sharply from $2.5 trillion in the same period last year. That’s a record $1.8 trillion narrowing.” In the month of July, receipts rose 3% while outlays fell 15%.

Quotes of the Week:

Grannis: Over the years I've learned that whenever politicians pass laws that impact the economy, the results, with few exceptions, end up being not only perverse but opposite to the supposed aims of the legislation. The Inflation Reduction Act currently being considered is a perfect example of this. It won't do anything to lower inflation, but it will do lots of things to weaken the economy.

Mac: This society now specializes in talking about problems full time while doing nothing about them. Always taking the easy way out. Which means that all of the "change" has been delayed and therefore all of the various crises will come crashing down at the same time...

Mac: By the time the National Bureau of Economic Research finally declares official recession, their astute observation will be only useful to archaeologists attempting to figure out what happened to the deeply buried Kardashian society...

Cardiovascular effects were found in 29.24% of patients, ranging from tachycardia, palpitation, and myopericarditis. Myopericarditis was confirmed in one patient after vaccination. Two patients had suspected pericarditis and four patients had suspected subclinical myocarditis. Conclusion: Cardiovascular effects in adolescents after BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccination included tachycardia, palpitation, and myocarditis. The clinical presentation of myopericarditis after vaccination was usually mild, with all cases fully recovering within 14 days. Hence, adolescents receiving mRNA vaccines should be monitored for side effects.

The Moral Atrocity of Factory Farming and Why We Must Not Look Away

... The subject of factory farming and animal rights is something I’ve been obsessed with for most of my life. I was in maybe fifth or sixth grade when I decided I was going to be vegetarian. I don’t think I had ever even heard of factory farming. I just figured that if we don’t have to eat animals to live, then it’s wrong to do that. I started to read a book about how to be a vegetarian and that was the first time I saw a mention of factory farming. It said that animals raised for food are treated really badly. And I was horrified. I got more and more into it. I watched Earthlings, a documentary narrated by Joaquin Phoenix. I watched that probably when I was too young for it, some time when I was in high school. Like a lot of people who are really devoted to this issue, I found it compelling. It’s an obvious atrocity. ........

.......... It’s very hard to think about and confront the reality of what is done on a mass scale to sentient creatures every day in this country and around the world. And it’s easy to try to avoid it. People don’t like thinking about it, and they don’t want to talk about it even though they kind of know at some level that there’s something bad that goes on or something horrible with animal agriculture. But something happens where, when you do confront it, instead of drawing further away, you decide you’re going to go closer, and you’re going to try to find the truth. Once you do that, it makes it difficult to go back to looking away. When you start to peel back the layers of what is done, you realize that there is a deep horror that is going on all the time. I think it becomes hard to justify to yourself not working on exposing this. ......

******* Garcia: Climate and Health, Neoliberal-Style

To call the narrow Senate passage of the odiously-named Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) a "watered-down" version of Joe Biden's original plan is actually an insult to such endangered bodies of water as Lake Mead, whose own declining levels are literally bringing up the bodies.

Not that there won't be plenty of corpses arising from this "landmark legislation." Its very name is a dead giveaway that it is rife with debunked "trickle down" theory and tax breaks for the wealthy in lieu of cash aid to people. Despite a modest tax on corporations, stock buy-back schemes, and more money for IRS enforcement, the oligarchy will continue to profit at the expense of the rest of us. And the climate will continue to worsen.  The mere imposition of carbon offsets and the awarding of more carbon credits and threats of fines to polluters, while still allowing for the relentless destructive drilling for fossil fuels in the melting Arctic and the still-polluted Gulf of Mexico, is only one indication that this legislation is not serious. It is deeply and pathologically cynical. Joe Manchin's outrage-inducing perk of a new pipeline for West Virginia is a relatively miniscule part of it.

The establishment media is doing its damnedest, nevertheless, to cast the Senate passage of the IRA as a stunning victory for Democrats and a vindication for President Biden.  After all, any shallow body of water seems to take on volume in a storm. The froth and the frenzy that the headlines are whipping up makes this legislation seem more potent than it actually is.

The media storm will die down soon enough, once people realize that there's nothing in the IRA for them and they're still living in a cracked crater that used to be a reservoir.. There will be no debt relief, no subsidized child care, no paid family leave, no minimum wage increase, no reduction in drug prices if you're covered by private insurance or no insurance at all. The Democrats are banking on people not realizing how badly they've been screwed until after the mid-terms. The timing of Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema suddenly "caving" to the program at the last minute seems to be proof that the legislation is a self-serving grab for continued political power.

Granted, Medicare will finally be able to negotiate drug prices with the pharmaceutical industry. But that change won't go into effect until 2026, and it will be for only ten drugs, with incremental additions kicking in thereafter. That gives lobbyists and their bought politicians plenty of time to fiddle around and whittle away. .............

A close look at implied decarbonization for the U.S. electricity sector

..... If the IRA emissions-reductions projections are indeed oversold, then it will be interesting to see responses, especially among climate advocates who may feel that they were duped. I do know that those in the renewable and carbon capture industries will judge the IRA a success no matter the emissions reductions!

Because 2030 is just around the corner, we will know within a year or two if the IRA is on track to hit its emissions reduction targets, as short-term shortfalls will imply even greater rates of necessary decarbonization in the future. Matt Yglesias argues that, “Politically, now that they’ve done a Big Important Substantive Thing on climate, Democrats need to pivot away from talking about climate.” I think that is bad advice — the IRA is of course a big bill in many ways, but it is a drop in the bucket for climate mitigation, even if its aggressive targets are hit.

Should the climate movement embrace sabotage?

In 1957, as the postwar economic boom led to a “great acceleration” in hydrocarbon energy use, a group of scientists working for a Texas-based petroleum company called Humble Oil (later renamed ExxonMobil) embarked on a study prompted by growing public concern over air pollution and new research on the consequences of burning fossil fuels. What they found was that the “enormous quantity of carbon dioxide” in the atmosphere was linked to the “combustion of fossil fuels.” Sixty-five years later, reality has proved to be even worse than their findings. With the unchecked combustion of fossil fuels releasing enormous quantities of carbon, the world is now on track to reach 5.8 degrees Fahrenheit above preindustrial levels. At the most recent UN Climate Change Conference, the assembled heads of state produced, yet again, zero binding commitments to reduce those emissions. And despite the green rhetoric, only 6 percent of the fiscal stimulus packages implemented by the G20 nations in 2020 and 2021 have contributed to emissions reductions, even as oil company profits soared to record highs. Amid government inaction, it has also become clear that the private sector will not save us. We’ve been told that benevolent investors would reroute capital away from dirty energy sectors and toward the green industries of the future. But the promise of “socially responsible finance” has proved to be mostly a scam. Despite pledges to do otherwise, Blackrock, the world’s largest asset manager, has continued to invest in fossil fuel companies, and the production of coal—the dirtiest fossil fuel—is now on the rise.

Meanwhile, with neither states nor capital doing all that much to slash carbon use, emissions have fully rebounded from their pandemic slump. In 2021, the world broke two grim records: the highest recorded carbon dioxide emissions in history and the largest absolute annual increase ever.

The mass transition to renewable energy will require a fundamental redesign of much of our technology and the infrastructure that supports it. Copper will be required in far greater quantities than it is currently.

A July 2022 analysis by S&P Global has identified that there will be a shortfall in the supply of copper as economies try to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. Without the available copper, it will not be possible to implement the technological changes required for a renewable economy.

Even if major economies can’t reach their reduction targets (a likely outcome), there will nevertheless be a notable increase in demand for copper and an eventual shortfall. This predictable shortfall will drive strategic national decisions. ...

This is an important read. Please refer to the original article for an important diagram.

Popular Rationalists know from my articles and presentations that Dr. Fantini’s results and the evidence of negative efficacy from real-world data means (to me) that ADE has driven SARS-CoV-2 viral infection since the vaccines were first put into humans on a large scale. The mutations that led to vaccine escape predate the vaccine, and that is expected: natural selection can only work on existing variation. The vaccine selection pressure has driven vaccine escape variants to spread throughout the evolving SARS-CoV-2 virus population on the landscape of humans.

Here is the full article that describes another confirming study, this time by Gary Dolton. The conclusion is inescapable: the vaccination program is responsible for the spread of COVID-19.

Please refer to the original article for an important diagram.

Prevents the vaccinated from seeing the light as it is just too painful

 1.  Multiple papers now suggest that COVID mRNA vaccines impair not just immunity to COVID, but immunity and immune surveillance overall.

The implication is that the vaxxed are more susceptible to a variety of infections, and perhaps also to cancer.  Immune surveillance is what identifies cancer cells and kills them before they can proliferate.

So, you are vaccinated.  The implications of this information are too frightening to be allowed into consciousness.  You don't need the external censors to suppress this knowledge; you do it automatically with your built-in defense mechanisms.

2.  Data from multiple countries now shows that all cause mortality (deaths from everything) are higher in the vaccinated.

This is just as scary, if not more so, than an increased risk of serious infections and cancer.  You deny and/or suppress this information, because it simply cannot be allowed to be true.

3.  You vaccinated your child.  This may have impaired their fertility, increased the cancer risk, etc. etc. etc.

Of all pieces of information that absolutely cannot be allowed to enter your consciousness, let alone be openly discussed in polite company, this one tops all.  So you will simply refuse to allow mention of it.  Friends whose conversations veer off in this direction must be obliterated.  Requiring that all family members and friends be vaccinated protects you from facing those for whom this discussion does not trigger the existential and uncontrollable pain it does for the vaccinated.

And Voila--you have a controlled and cowed population who have become their own thought police.

With only a small percentage of Americans accepting COVID-19 vaccine second shots, CDC calls for an end to quarantine, screening and offers a mild nudge toward masking. Timing says it all.

Many individuals believe the COVID-19 pandemic has been largely a product of bad public health policies. For example, in this article, I showed how most of the policies the CDC proposed were completely arbitrary rules had no value in reducing COVID-19 deaths and were primarily psychological theater designed to engineer social compliance.

................. It has now become clear the vaccines have failed abysmally and have:
  • Failed to prevent the population from developing herd immunity to COVID-19.
  • Spawned a large number of variants.
  • Caused vaccinated individuals to be unable to develop permanent immunity to COVID-19 resulting in them being repeatedly infected and overtime comprising the majority of individuals infected with COVID-19 and needing to take time off work.

Paracetamol Myth - Systematically suppressing fever likely carries huge consequences, enhancing and reinforcing both the pandemic hurting more people in the process

The world is filled with stories whereby a policy ends up creating the complete opposite of what the intent was.

.... In a not-so-distant future, I am quite convinced that the systematic use of Paracetamol during the COVID pandemic will be considered as one of the biggest failings in public health History, right behind the catastrophic COVID vaccines.

Ancients used to consider fever as an indispensable ally in the fight against illness. “Fever is a mighty engine which Nature brings into the world for the conquest of her enemies.”said 17th century physician, Thomas Sydenham, also known as “The English Hippocrates”. Modern-day medicine focused on comfort – over therapeutic reason – has been systematically quashing fever for some time now, particularly during this pandemic.

I understand it can be scary to see one’s child feverish, but as long as it doesn’t become overwhelming (in time or level), fever should be embraced as nature’s defence at work. If evolutionary pecking order is a sign of therapeutic priority, and thus efficacy, fever is much more important than antibodies1.

Fever, what for?
Too many view fever as a useless and painful by-product of the immune reaction, as if Evolution couldn’t have done away with such an incapacitating symptom. Let’s go back to basics here: “Fever-less people have been pruned from the evolutionary tree, only fever-prone people have survived.” Let that kick in… Another randomised controlled trial was held during millenia and fever – despite its painfulness and discomfort – held on and won. In other words, fever has to be an indispensable strategic tool in our fight against disease and suppressing it in a systematic fashion is as idiotic and foolish as suppressing the immune system.

What does fever do that is so important?
By raising the temperature of the body and the acidity of the blood stream, fever likely acts as a systemic bomb impeding further infection and destroying all the circulating virions, putting an end to the exponential viral propagation early on. SARS-COV-2 sensitivity to temperature - as other corona viruses - is well documented ........

Old vaccine is unsafe and ineffective -- new one had NO effectiveness testing at all!

Can't Find SAFETY CONCERNS If All Animals Are Destroyed

... The fact check, fortunately, mentions three animal studies — one for each COVID vaccine — and I read each one closely. It turned out that in all three studies, experimenters killed the test animals shortly after vaccination and the subsequent challenge of animals with Sars-Cov-2. They killed them so as to make it impossible to find “safety signals” that arise in vaccinated beings post-vaccination in the long run.

This means, with all test animals dead, the scientists could not find out:
  • whether these animals could actually reproduce
  • whether these animals had shortened lifespans
  • what happens to the test animals upon COVID reinfections
  • whether the test animals would be more likely to have cancers or other immune-mediated diseases
  • whether the test animals were more likely to suffer from other species-specific illnesses
It is very convenient to kill test animals, because this way, vaccine companies could report that “they identified no safety concerns” — and it is kind of truthful! ...

Mask expert shares his abundant knowledge and experience. Spoiler alert: THEY DON'T WORK. But they DO CAUSE HARM.

Podcast: Rumble, YouTube

Quant genius Mathew Crawford is doing a brilliant series of articles exploring the possibility that vaccine efficacy — for all vaccines — may be zero and that any claimed benefit from shots is actually a wealth effect (said differently, when one controls for wealth any supposed benefit from the vaccine disappears). I would like to add my two cents to this debate. .....

Do you still doubt that the federal bureaucracy and the elected government parasitically attached to it seek to harm the people they rule (i.e., us) by any means necessary? They’re still pushing Covid “vaccines” in a futile effort to eliminate the control group of their massive eugenics experiment — that is, the unvaccinated, who are not getting the many vaccine-induced diseases behind the rise of all-causes mortality in people under 65.

But the vaxx scam isn’t working anymore. Too many people have already been hurt, or killed, or seen friends and relatives go down mysteriously and they’re taking a pass on any more shots. Parents have evidently seen enough to not bring their little children in for the life-altering mRNA treatments. The CDC, the FDA, and their cohorts hide their information, lie when pressed, and pretend that they are acting scientifically. But really, at this point, many public health officials must be secretly wondering how they will evade prosecution.

They won’t when fraud is proven in a court of law. Even with all the lies and redactions issued by the CDC and the FDA, the evidence is piling miles high that the Pfizer and Moderna drug trials were covered-up botches and the entire administration of the vaccine program has been an unnecessary disaster. Fraud vitiates immunity from liability. The pharma companies will go out of business and their profits will be clawed back in countless lawsuits. The drug company executives will go to prison along with Rochelle Walensky, Anthony Fauci, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, and many of their lieutenants. ...

.......... You have to remember that this is no COVID. For COVID you have an IFR of about 0.000002 in children. For monkeypox, the IFR is about ten thousand times higher. Once we had four cases in children outside Africa, we already had one cases that ended up in the ICU.

There are many things wrong with modern life, but you spend every day with a blessing, an act of profound mercy that you live entirely unaware of: Infant mortality rates of 0.5%. Your great-great-grandparents could expect to bury about a quarter of the children they gave birth to. And what I notice is as following: People are entirely blind to how fragile this blessing really is. They have no clue at all that our era is abnormal, that our blessing is fragile and fleeting.

People need to be far more grateful for this blessing and display humility before nature, otherwise it isn’t going to last. I will say it again:

-You need to shutdown international aviation. You really have no business traveling around the world. This pandemic started with gay men at international orgies. The Gay Pride on the canary islands drew 80,000 people and those people spread it around the world. This is an act of human hubris.

-You need to shut down the animal agriculture industry, where animals are kept alive by feeding them the very same antibiotics that you depend on to treat your own wounds in the hospitals. The bacteria are learning to resist those antibiotics and you have no proper replacement for them.

-You need to shut down the gay orgies. Sodomy is a sexual act that is intrinsically very competent at passing on pathogens, because the intestinal tract will develop very small tears that spill blood. It’s not designed with all sorts of mechanisms that allow it to avoid suffering damage from penetration by a penis. The vagina naturally lubricates and has a low PH and various commensal bacteria that protect it, the rectum doesn’t have these traits.

That’s the price you need to pay, if you want to keep 0.5% infant mortality rates. It requires humility before nature.

... The fact checkers assure us all that all of these doctors died for other reasons; the fact that they all died right after the vaccine was simply bad luck. ..

Throughout the months that we’ve been tracking “sudden deaths” in Canada, we have been struck by how few pertinent press reports there seem to be in such a heavily “vaccinated” country—compared to (say) Italy, which we have dubbed “the death camp of Europe.”

This week, our overview of “sudden deaths” in Canada is far more comprehensive than it’s been since we began this project, as we now have a dedicated research team in Canada, focused on obituaries from funeral homes—since, as our researchers there discovered months ago, the “free press” in that so-called “democracy” has been blacking out most news of people “dying suddenly,” and doing so as thoroughly as the press (and “social media”) in China. ...............

The time will come when many millions feel the way he does, no matter what the government, and "our free press," are doing to prevent it

Reports of "vaxxidents," collapses and incapacitating injuries—stroke, heart attack, myocarditis, Guillain-Barré—from the United States, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Italy and Russia

We all should know by now that Pfizer own a prestigious record for health care fraud. But that was a few years ago and they have reformed, right?

Wrong. You see they continue to be associated with scientific fraud. And you don’t have to believe me, because their lead primate researcher has admitted to this fraud.

But hang on just a monkeying minute. This guy produced the Monkey animal data for Pfizer’s “best vaccine ever” animal study. You know, the one that they conducted to prove how great the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine-that-isnt-actually-a-vaccine was. And he did this under the supervision (last author) of Ugur Sahin, the guy that “invented” said vaccine in 24 hours. Ugur Sahin, of course, is the same guy that published the paper in the NEJM showing that the #safeandeffective was 95% effective at preventing infection - which we all now know was a lie. In the scientific world Kaushal’s admission of fraud means that every study that he is associated with must be assumed to be fraudulent until the data is independently assessed.

So, what is the probability that the C4591001 study (the Pfizer “95% effective” study) was real when all the samples were sent to Pfizer’s lab in Pearl River for “analysis” - even from that huge recruitment centre in Argentina.

We all know the answer.
Brook and I have the proof. ...

On 1 September, 1941, Chief of Reich Security Reinhard Heydrich, one of the most fanatical, mass-murdering Nazis, issued a now notorious decree ordering Jews above the age of six to wear an identifying badge in public. The Jewish Badge, a yellow Star of David with the word “Jew” inscribed inside the star, was meant to stigmatize and humiliate the Jews and was also used to segregate them and monitor and control their movements.

Nothing like that is happening currently, especially not in New Normal Germany.

What is happening currently in New Normal Germany is the fascist fanatics in control of the government are rewriting the “Infection Protection Act,” again — as they have been doing repeatedly for the last two years — in order to allow themselves to continue to violate the German constitution (the “Grundgesetz“) and rule the nation by arbitrary decree under the guise of “protecting the public health.”

This repeatedly revised “Infection Protection Act” — which has granted the government of New Normal Germany the authority to order lockdowns, curfews, the outlawing of protests against the New Normal, the mandatory wearing of medical-looking masks, the segregation and persecution of “the Unvaccinated,” etc. — is of course in no way remotely comparable to the “Enabling Act of 1933,” which granted the government of Nazi Germany the authority to issue whatever decrees it wanted under the guise of “remedying the distress of the people.”

There is absolutely no similarity whatsoever between these two pieces of legislation. ...

Russian MIL Declares Ukraine Origin of C19! DNC Globalists Created Covid!

New briefing from Chief of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Forces, General Igor Kirillov, on military biological activities of the United States in the territory of Ukraine.

The Russian MIL have been studying biological samples from surrendered Ukrainian soldiers, and what they have been finding is beyond disturbing. Approximately 20% of them carrying West Nile pathogens, which were being studied “by the Pentagon as part of the Ukrainian UP-4 and UP-8 projects”. Suggesting that Ukrainian soldiers are being subject to involuntary biological experimentation and exposure to biological weapons (think Nuremberg).

In addition to carrying pathogens, nearly all of the surrendered Ukrainian soldiers carried traces of a wide variety of narcotics and opioids, including Meth and Codeine.

.... Russia says this activity gives reasonable cause to question US military biologists in the emergence and spread of the COVID-19 pathogen. Russia cites:
“In May 2022, Jeffrey Sachs - a leading expert in the respected medical journal The Lancet and professor at Columbia University, the leading academic institution for global biosecurity, told a conference in Spain that ‘..the coronavirus was artificially created and is very likely to have been created using American advances in biotechnology...’.”
Take that in for a moment. Yup. Russia just accused the United States of creating and releasing Covid-19. ...

... The DNC Globalists were using Ukraine as the home base for production of the virus, then shipping the genome specific viruses to labs around the world, to be released to ensure the virus infected the entire world ...

In conclusion, Russia have now DIRECTLY accused the DNC Globalists of:

-creating and releasing new variants of Coronaviruses, and now Monkeypox, intentionally, for the purposes of political control and world domination.

-using non-consensual experimentation on citizens of the world to create genome specific biological weapons for ethnic cleansing.

-creation and usage of narcotics, such as methamphetamines, on Ukrainian forces to dehumanize them in order to carry out heinous crimes against humanity on civilians in Ukraine.

Russia just confirmed my overall narrative; that the war in Ukraine is backlash for the Deep State’s creation and usage of C19. We are already in WW3 and C19 was the first weapon fired. ..

An uncompromised correspondent at work.

We take an unusual step as we publish the following piece by Eva Bartlett, the perspicacious Canadian correspondent whose practice it is to report from “the other side.” The Scrum does not customarily pick up pieces from other publications and reproduce them in its pages. We take this unusual step because it is an unusual time. We consider it halfway to a public service to offer our readers Ms. Bartlett’s sobering, eyewitness report from Donetsk City.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the AFU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is losing its fight against Russian forces in an ever-swifter slide toward defeat. We detect a mounting desperation, although the reporting of mainstream correspondents is so poor, especially when considered next to Ms. Barlett’s—indeed, so thoroughly dedicated to the propaganda project the regimes in Kiev and Washington share—that little about this war is clear.

Amnesty International has just issued a report asserting that the AFU, as we have heard numerous times over the months, uses civilian locations as cover. We are asked to believe that Russian forces shelled a detention camp wherein they hold captured Ukrainians. As we speak, we are asked to believe Russians are shelling a nuclear power plant their own troops appear to be guarding. The information war grows to unmanageable proportions.

Ms. Bartlett’s report seems to us not only to expose the shocking lengths to which the AFU has gone in Donetsk City as its position grows more desperate; she also casts a sharp beam of light on how numerous of the AFU’s other acts are reported—or not.

Eva Bartlett has distinguished herself in the course of reporting many stories, not least from Palestinian territories. She has done so again in the piece that follows, and we commend her for this work. The piece originally appeared in RT.

The West is silent as Ukraine targets civilians in Donetsk using banned ‘butterfly’ mines.
The use of PFM-1 explosives against civilians is prohibited by the Geneva Conventions—but this evidently isn’t stopping Ukraine.

Larry Johnson is rightfully appalled by a New York Times piece that quotes a lot from 'officials' but fails to check any of their obviously false claims:
I never cease to be amazed by the utter failure of journalists to assemble facts. I think it boils down to laziness. Why should you do any independent research or thinking that requires you to go to the front lines when you can gobble up and regurgitate pre-packaged talking points? You get paid the same and hell, you might even get a Pulitzer if you are the most enthusiastic purveyor of regime bullshit. ...

Doctorow: Happy days are here again…

... he barrage of propaganda coming from Zelensky’s narcotics-distorted face on my screen brings to mind very unkind thoughts about what his tragic final scene should be in the ‘nearest future,’ as the Russians say..

Today’s dose of venom from the Ukrainian president, presented as God’s honest truth by the editorial team at Euronews, concerns the latest attacks on the Zaporozhie nuclear power station, which, of course, he lays at the door of the Kremlin, notwithstanding the nonsensical nature of such allegations given that the Russians would be interested in the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the territories they now occupy whereas the Ukrainian command would be interested in its disruption or even in some leakage of radiation that would threaten the nearby population that is now once and forever outside their control.

All of these Ukrainian allegations following one or another atrocity that they themselves have committed  with an eye to false flag propaganda become very tiresome. ...

... And yet, it is clear that whatever European leaders know or do not know about Zelensky and the murderous gang presently holding the Ukrainian nation captive, they are not about to reverse course and say ‘sorry’ to Russia.  Only a clean sweep of Europe’s “leaders” and their replacement by new persons who may or may not be smarter but who will have no reason to double down on dead wrong policies out of empty vanity can bring some reason and common sense back to European politics.  Johnson is gone.  Draghi is gone.  Time for Scholz, Macron and a host of other buffoons wearing presidential hats to leave the scene.

Naughty GETTR posts? Say bye-bye to your TWITTER account

The World Economic Forum is becoming a little concerned. Unapproved opinions are becoming more popular, and online censors cannot keep up with millions of people becoming more aware and more vocal. The censorship engines employed by Internet platforms, turned out to be quite stupid and incapable. People are even daring to complain about the World Economic Forum, which is obviously completely unacceptable.

So, WEF author Inbal Goldberger came up with a solution: she proposes to collect off-platform intelligence from “millions of sources” to spy on people and new ideas, and then merge this information together for “content removal decisions” sent down to “Internet platforms”. ...

.......... This sounds like an insane conspiracy theory from hell: WEF collecting information on everyone everywhere, and then telling all platforms what posts to remove, based on a global decision-making AI engine that sees everything and can identify individual people and ideas beyond any given platform.

If someone ever told me that it would be contemplated, I would probably think that this person is insane. It sounds like a sick technological fantasy. Unfortunately, this crazy stuff is real, is in a WEF agenda proposal that is officially posted on their website’s “WEF Agenda” section. And WEF is not messing around.

You will have no voice and you will be happy!

“Russian Propaganda” Just Means Disobedience

....... For empire apologists the measure of what constitutes “Russian propaganda” about Ukraine has nothing to do with whether or not what’s being said is true or valid; it’s literally just a question of obedience to one’s government about the decisions it’s been making with regard to that nation.

........... It's not just commentators like me who see the western press as propagandists: that's how they see themselves. If you think it's your job to always report information that helps one side of a war and always omit any information which might hinder it, then you have given yourself the role of propagandist. You might not call yourself that, but that's what you are by any reasonable definition of that word.

And a great many western Zelenskyites honestly see this as the media's role as well. They'll angrily condemn anyone who inserts skepticism of the US empire's narratives about Ukraine into mainstream consciousness, but then they'll also yell at you if you say we're not being told the truth about Ukraine. They demand to be lied to, and call you a liar if you say that means we're being lied to. ...

.... Later in the interview Rising’s Briahna Joy Gray asked DeCamp if these escalations against China from the Trump administration into the Biden administration were a “kind of blob foreign policy decision that is not partisan.” DeCamp explained how in 2018 the US military began officially transitioning from emphasis on “counter-terrorism” in the Middle East toward “great power competition” with China and Russia, with the ultimate target being China.

“If you look at all the really hawkish think tanks in Washington that are funded by the arms industry, it’s all about this so-called great power competition,” DeCamp said. “Russia right now seems to be the more imminent issue I guess, but China seems to be in the long run. And we’ve seen this from just about every government agency — the Pentagon, the FBI, the State Department, the CIA — say that China is the long-term so-called threat. And we’ve seen Biden say this, and this is kind of the name of the game in Washington right now.”

In the lead-up to Pelosi’s visit, Moon of Alabama spotlighted this strange phenomenon where US foreign policy moves along the same trajectory regardless of political party or election results with a collection of recent articles that have all raised this subject independently. This one from Naked Capitalism stands out the most right now: .....

... But from where I sit right now, the funniest thing about it is the way the article portrays the western world as this bastion of free thought and individuality. Just that one fact alone eclipses the absurdity of the fact that the article’s author thinks the perfect symbol of this freedom is Lady Gaga strutting around in a meat dress.

... The more you understand about the brainwashing effects of domestic propaganda in the west, the more adorable it is when you see westerners talking about themselves as free-thinking individualists living in a free society in contrast with the citizens of nations like China.  ...

Other Quotes of the Week:

IlargiNo elected official on his/her own would risk to destroy their own country’s energy or food safety, with elections coming up every few years. But their WEF/Davos connections have changed that “logic”. The WEF makes sure no western leader gets elected who is not a member of their club. There’s only one path to power these days.

Hornberger: Only a person who is willfully blind cannot see that the U.S. position on the Brittney Griner case is driven not by some compassionate concern for her welfare but rather by the extreme anti-Russia animus that has afflicted U.S. officials for more than 75 years.

Long Reads / Big Thoughts:

.... Our ability to engage in anticipatory thinking is what allowed us to come into existence, failure to practice it will be our doom. What our mind is much better at, is reactive thinking: An event happens and we respond to it. And yet, this dooms you when the event can only be properly dealt with by anticipating it.

..... The biggest cognitive bias humans face is that we assume that extremely bad scenarios just can’t happen, that there’s something out there that prevents them from taking place.

Concern for generations unborn is laudable and right, but is it really a pre-requisite for saving the world?

... Effective altruism and longtermism are kind of a package deal. They tend to get discussed in the same places, by the same people, and there are logical connections between them that make this natural. And, though both ideas can be described in ways that make them sound not very profound (see above two paragraphs), they’re important for at least two reasons: ...

... Here’s my radical thought: The biggest existential threat we face—a kind of meta-existential-threat that keeps us from addressing the more commonly enumerated existential threats—is that humans aren’t good enough at shorttermism. If people were skilled shorttermists—if they pursued short-term interests wisely—our long-term problems, including the existential ones, would be manageable. ...

********** Radagast: A lot of you really need to hear this

Despite what social media algorithms might have you believe, you can’t figure out what’s true by taking claims made by authority figures and assuming the opposite to be correct. As an example, if Joe Biden were to get on TV tomorrow and insist the moon can’t get pregnant, that doesn’t mean the moon is expecting a baby. And yet, that’s what 90% or so of “right-wing dissident” analysis now amounts to: Pathologically inverting whatever it is you hear on TV.

.....
Rather than telling you what to believe, I’d like for you to just consider ditching the pathological contrarianism for once. The fact that someone claims something that contradicts what those in positions of authority and power tend to claim does not mean he’s automatically right. In fact, often they contradict each other. Whenever someone like me brings up global warming, I have to contend with three contradictory claims:
  • It’s not warming.
  • The warming is not caused by humans but by the sun/the Earth’s core/something else.
  • Global warming is actually a good thing.
And somehow all these contradictory stories are intrinsically more plausible to most of you than what scientists first warned us about more than a century ago and continue to argue to this day. Rather than telling you what to believe, I’m just going to ask you to think carefully for once about what sort of psychological mechanisms determine how you view the world.

..... What I notice is that when the right gets things right, they tends to get them right by accident. They don’t trust anything the government pushes, so they were right about the COVID vaccines. And yet, many of them reject them for very retarded reasons. As an example, you don’t have to worry about graphene in vaccines, or magnets sticking to your arm. And yet there will be idiots out there who heard about that stuff and thereby dodged a bullet. If Ebola broke out tomorrow, most of you would reject the vaccine against Ebola too and die as a consequence.

Similarly, the left gets things right by accident too. They don’t really understand anything, but they trust that authority figures understand what they’re talking about and most of the time that is correct. As an example, I tend to notice among climate activists that many of them know very little about nature, or even about climate change itself. They just trust authority figures when the authority figures claim there is a problem and they are correct in that assessment.

You need to analyze societal problems on an individual basis, rather than just going with some sort of herd instinct. And yet, most people prove utterly incapable of that. ....

......... This victimhood-as-bedrock continues to this day, especially since 2016 when the unthinkable happened. Brexit and Trump (basically, a backlash of populism) precipitated a full fledged psychotic break in the progressive zeitgeist, which until that moment was consolidating its hegemony.

Political correctness metastasized into terminal Wokeness, where all aspects of discourse, popular culture and even public policy became delineated into whether it meshed well with left-wing sanctimony, or not.

“Wokeness” takes the otherwise noble aspirations of egalitarianism and stewardship and twists them into a dogma that provides a Trojan Horse for despotism. The high priests of this mindset assert total moral authority and claim an elevated consciousness over the infantile, sub-human masses. Especially if those masses live in fly-over country, hold blue-collar jobs or are otherwise un-credentialed and without pedigree.

This ideology (a word invented by rudderless Jacobins who went to work for Napoleon, helping him consolidate absolute power), translated well into modern times. The “science of ideas” provides the camouflage of choice for the totalitarian impulses of an elite class – increasingly destined for secular, sclerotic decline under the weight of its own corruption, internal contradictions and excess.

For years we (the contrarian, non-compliant “we”, the “racist”, “fringe” we) have been sounding the alarm that the pillars of “Wokethink”, such as “all or nothing”, emotional thinking, catastrophizing and seven other markers, were highly congruent with mental illness. Worse, they are detrimental and destructive to society on a fundamental level.

Where many fear a coming, Davos-inspired technocracy of owning nothing, eating bugs and living in the pod, I think the COVID pandemic created an irreversible phase-shift. Where before we were headed for a totalitarian dystopia that would ultimately fail, but probably last for large swaths of our lifetimes, COVID (more accurately, the overbearing policy response) created an inflection point in history. Several decades of creeping authoritarianism was compressed into eighteen months, and that was Too Much, Too Soon, for everyone. ........
